Like Mother Like Daughter
Something i couldnt help but notice in The Libation Bearers is Electras likeness to her mother. In the Agamemnon, Clytaemnestra is still furious at her husband for sacrificing their daughter before going off to war so she hatches a secret plan to murder him when he returns in revenge of her lost daughter Iphigenia In The Libation Bearers, Clytaemnestra's daughter Electra schemes with her brother Orestes to kill their mother in revenge of Agamemnon. I found this interesting because Electra curses and insults her mother for what she did when she is about to commit the same act with the same motive herself. I understand that the acts of revenge and avenging are strong in Greek worldview but if Electra and Orestes really thought about thier plans and why their mother killed their father in the first place, would they reconsider their motives?

I don't think so. I feel that they felt such a strong connection to their father, and the amount of rage from the betrayal of their mother drove them beyond reason.
