In the first book of the Nicomachean Ethics, Aristotle explains how everything we do is for the aim of something greater than ourselves. "The Greater Good" per say. We make our choices according to what we view as good. What we view as good is derived from our experiences. Our conscience affects our choice. Ultimately we do it to "support a higher ends"- in which case, I believe Aristotle was referring to a Supreme God- aka the One we serve today.
PS I commented on Nate and Darby's post
I agree on your statement about Aristotle referring to God. His explanation of why we do things a certain way or act a certain way mirrors our relationship with God. Our lives are ruled by his word and revolve around his plans for us. The reason we live the way we do is because of God.
