Humility

This particular part caught my attention because of the references he uses. He shows us how Christ was treated, and how David responds to God. The humbleness portrayed makes me ashamed of myself. David addresses his wickedness and sinful state. He gives all the glory and honor back to God for being made new. Clement shows how important it is to be humble to point every good thing back to God, rather than boasting in what you have done or accomplished for God.

I loved how he referenced Job. Job was upright and blameless, yet knows that no one can be completely good. I have struggled with Job's blamelessness. Job throughout wonders what he has done wrong, yet still proclaims that God is sovereign and does not curse him. I feel he was humble in this sense as well.

I commented on Nate and Natalies.

  1. I see the confusion. I recently went through the book of Job and was conflicted as why would God keep Job in the dark for so long? Was it to strengthen Job's trust or his faithfulness even past the point it already was at? Yes, but also Job took council from his corrupt friends and was very close to turning againt God. I feel as though everyone has a breaking point.

  2. It is so humbling to look at how these men stood before God. Job was upright and blameless, but endured so much hardship and suffering giving glory to God. I think this is a great example of how we will suffer for the sake of Christ. Just because bad things happen to us does not mean that God is punishing us. We suffer because we live in a sinful, fallen world. As Christians we are called to suffer for the spreading of the gospel like Christ suffered on our behalf.

  3. It is very convicting to look at the humility of these two men. The showed a great amount of resiliency when faced with great trouble but, the remained rooted in God and showed their humility through him.
